Associate Professor in Visual Effects - Kristiania University, Norway
The Westerdals Department of Film and Media [HGB1] has a part time position available, 50-75%, as an assistant professor in Visual Effects.
The Bachelor of Visual Effects (VFX) started in 2016 and is located in the heart of the VFX industry in Oslo, Norway. We experience good interest from students and the industry and have strong professionals and industry players associated with us. The program holds a high academic and practical level, with great student satisfaction. We want to further develop and strengthen this study program.
We are now seeking one or more VFX professionals who are interested in teaching. We can offer an exciting and pleasant environment where you can help shape the content, participate in academic discussions, initiate projects and productions, and work on the crossing of established subject boundaries. What we are looking for is a person with VFX production experience who likes to work with students and develop talents. You are passionate about film and Visual Effects and like to see this subject in the context of the other disciplines.
Work and responsibilities
Take part in planning, development and teaching
Guide and mentor in relevant topics and subject areas
Schedule and implement courses according to study plans
Contribute to the development and implementation of the department's academic and educational strategies
Further develop professional industry networks and international relations within your field of study
You are an experienced and technically skilled compositor with several years of VFX film / TV experience
You have a good understanding of the entire VFX process
You are able to take students through productions from preproduction, production and postproduction
You know the key tools and techniques used in the VFX industry
You have an eye for photorealism, composition and color
It is desirable with VFX supervision experience
You have good communication skills, both with students and in external communication
You have the ability to create a good working environment and professional network
You like to work in an ambitious and pleasant academic environment in constant change
You have education at minimum bachelor level or equivalent and run creative relevant business.
You have documented relevant practical-pedagogical competence on the basis of education or teaching and supervision. Candidates who cannot document formal educational experience will be given opportunities to acquire this competence
