Mission & Strategy

Our mission is to give the students a broad understanding of genres, styles and production workflows of film, television and related area. The specialisations include production, scriptwriting, cinematography, editing and sound design. In addition to that, there are options to learn e.g. directing, documentary, animation and fine arts.

Our courses are taught in Finnish mostly, but our perspective is international. We want to explore the new delivery platforms and transmedia concepts of the future, but keep in mind the art traditions in the field too. We co-operate with the Finnish Broadcasting Corporation (Yle) and private companies in Mediapolis campus and customers and partners all around the world.

The BA studies last four years, and consist of courses, projects, internship and final thesis work. In addition to BA degrees, Film and Television has two master’s degree programs: MA in Screenwriting (60 ECTS credit points), offered in English annually, and MA in Media Production (60 cr), organized every second year in Finnish.

Our alumni work in various positions e.g. in film production companies, in television industry, and in ad agencies and marketing companies.
