In the context of today’s multiple social, political and cultural transformations, defining major current changes in the world, we have all become part of ardent discussions and debates focused on notions, concepts and practices ranging from freedom of expression, to censorship, extremist ideological pressures, protest art, undermining authoritarian policies through art etc.
The different forms of representation in contemporary art often enter in collision with censorship practices and thus generate new frameworks for intervention in reality and, inevitably, for debate on creation and production contexts.
Is art the territory of absolute freedom of expression?
How are the frames of this freedom written and rewritten in contemporary art?
Possible approaches:
• new forms of censorship in contemporary art
• artistic and cultural representations focused on questioning censorship
• self-censorship – subversive explorations
• ideological territories of censorship – interventions in current educational practices
• mechanisms of cultural and/ or social censorship in today's world
• the limits to freedom of expression – the ethics of non-oppression
We accept articles that have not been published or submitted for publication in other scientific journals, from any of the following fields: theater and performing arts, cinematography and media, music, visual arts, history and cultural studies, philology, philosophy, but also any other related or interdisciplinary field of research that could be of interest for the contemporary cultural space.
