Developing Technologies’ Standing Committee (DTSC)

Developing Technologies’ Standing Committee (DTSC)

In 2024, CILECT re-created under a new name and agenda the Standing Committee on Technology which existed between 1992-2010 and was headed throughout almost its entire life by Honorary Member Prof. Nenad Puhovski. DTSC aims to study the profound impact of modern technologies on the audiovisual medium practice and pedagogy. By exploring the technological advancements, creative possibilities, and ethical considerations associated with any further developing technology, the committee would propose action plans for CILECT to implement multi-functional and multi-modal initiatives with the view of a possible co-existence of human and artificial life forms.

More specifically, DTSC would (among other goals):

  • Research school and/or student interactions and collaborations centered on managed transitions between new and developing technologies (also ongoing integration of both) as well as potentially applicable models, in the sense of degree structures, local and regional contexts, etc.
  • Create documents on the educational and ethical responsibilities when working with developing technologies
  • Initiate surveys, regional conferences, participation in external events, and consultation with associations that face similar challenges and opportunities (and may have common cause)
  • Investigate the background for eventual partnerships with billionaire tech developers and companies
