JOB OPENING: Professor of Climate, Environmental Justice, Media and Communication

The School of Communication at American University seeks an open-rank faculty member to serve as Professor of Climate, Environmental Justice, Media and Communication beginning August 1, 2022 whose work and expertise focuses on public understanding of climate change, environmental justice, and immediate and long-term impact. This encompasses experience in the use of media and communication to frame and advocate for policies and issues associated with climate change and climate misinformation. This expertise thus spans climate, health, and social justice and is open to a broad range of applicants, from academic, professional and creative sectors, with expertise in the communications industries, including investigative and science journalists, strategic communicators, filmmakers, conservationists and social advocates. We welcome applicants with expertise in investigative reporting, science journalism, strategic communications, social justice, environmental filmmaking, and media arts. Professional communication experience with environmental justice activism and movements is a plus.
