School Director

The College of Art and Design, and the School of Film and Animation are inviting applications for the position of School Director of the School of Film and Animation.
To exercise leadership of an award winning, cutting-edge, collegial, and motivated professional community working with a global footprint, the School Director must be an equally accomplished and respected peer. We are seeking an individual who has the ability and interest in contributing to a community committed tostudent-centeredness; professional development and scholarship; integrity and ethics; respect, diversity and pluralism; innovation and flexibility; and teamwork and collaboration.
The School Director for the School of Film and Animation (“SOFA”) is responsible for leading a diverse and accomplished faculty in the operation of the SOFA’s Motion Picture Science based degree programs (B.S.) and the film production degree programs with an emphasis in either Animation or Production (BFA and MFA). The School Director will actively mentor and annually evaluate faculty and staff.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated a passion for curriculum development and organizational management. The successful candidate will work collaboratively to build on the School’s outstanding legacies to ensure a bright future that is “future proof”. Exciting challenges include keeping the program strong while innovating, balancing “art” and “craft”, adding new technologies and creating opportunities that expose students to new storytelling approaches, and helping to create a stimulating and supportive environment for students in an ever-growing community of students and faculty.
This position appointment is for four years (12 months per year) and may be renewed. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2020.

Candidate Qualifications
The following minimum qualifications are required:
An MFA, PhD or demonstrated exceptional scholarly and professional experience in motion pictures, television, or animation commensurate with leadership position.
3 years of administrative leadership experience (academic, industry, etc.) in motion pictures, television, animation or in a related field.
3 years of college teaching experience at the graduate or undergraduate level in motion pictures, television, animation or related subject areas.
Demonstrated record of promoting and developing opportunities for collaboration involving motion pictures, television, animation or a related field.
Demonstrated knowledge of technologies and emerging trends in motion picture arts and sciences.
Demonstrated leadership skills in areas such as planning; budgeting; student, faculty and staff recruiting; faculty and staff assessment; and the professional development of faculty and staff.
Membership and active participant in related professional association.
Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college’s continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
