Job Description:
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Department of Communication, Media, and Performance at Framingham State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Advertising, Public Relations, and Social Media at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in the Fall Semester of 2021.
The ideal candidate will be able to teach courses in Advertising, Public Relations, Social Media, Organizational Communication, and Leadership Communication, have an interest in developing other courses in emerging media at the intersection of public relations, organizations, and civics, and have a commitment to the pedagogy of diversity and underrepresented communities.
Full-time faculty are expected to serve on university committees, advise students, and participate in departmental administration and curriculum development, while contributing to the vibrancy of the intellectual and creative community of the university.
Requirements:
Ph.D in a field related to Communication Studies (in hand by August 1, 2021)
Familiarity with both critical and applied scholarship in the field
Strong commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, advising, and academic service
Experience with or a demonstrated willingness to participate in teaching, mentoring, research, or service activities that promote the growth of an equitable, diverse, and inclusive academic environment.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible position in the Massachusetts State College Association (MSCA) bargaining unit. Salary commensurate with experience in accordance with Appendix O of the MSCA contract (https://mscaunion.org/day-and-dgce-contracts/)
