Mission & Strategy

The Kieślowski Film School is a Polish film and television school established in 1978 and based in Katowice, Poland. It is a full-time film school and offers MA courses in Directing, Cinematography and Photography, Film and Television Production, and an MA course in English: Creative Management in New Media. Kieślowski Film School is allowed to award PhD degree. One of its first tutors was Krzysztof Kieślowski. It is a part of University of Silesia in Katowice.

Adam Sikora, cinematography, the most important part of his achievements are films made jointly with Lech Majewski – „Pokój saren”, „Wojaczek”, „Angelus”, „Młyn o krzyż”; Jerzy Skolimowski – „Cztery noce z Anną i „Essential Killing” and with Piotr Dumała – „Las”, which brought him many prestigious awards and recognition of critics.

Andrzej Fidyk

Field of Teaching: Documentary Directing
Major Achievements:

Author of over 40 documentaries made, among others for TVP, BBC, ARTE, Canal+, WDR, ITVS and Norwegian producers. His most famous films are Defilada, Kiniarze z Kalkuty, Taniec trzcin, Rosyjski Striptease i Yodok Stories.

Aneta Hickinbotham

Field of Teaching: Production
Major Achievements:

She worked on such Polish productions as “Pan Tadeusz” (1999), directed by Andrzej Wajda, and “The Pianist” (2002), directed by Roman Polanski. Subsequently, she gained production experience with Hollywood films, including “Troy” (2004), directed by Wolfgang Petersen, “The Legend of Zorro” (2005), directed by Martin Campbell, and “Munich” (2005), directed by Steven Spielberg.

Bartosz Konopka

Field of Teaching: Directing
Major Achievements:

Together with Rosołowski, they realized “Królik po berlińsku” (2009), which earned them an Oscar nomination, many other awards, was screened at 70 festivals and distributed in more than 40 countries.

Rafal Milach

Field of Teaching: Photography
Major Achievements:

Author of award-winning books, including “The Winners,” “7 Rooms,” and “Pierwszy marsz dżentelmenów.” A recipient of grants from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, Magnum Foundation, and the European Cultural Foundation. Winner of the World Press Photo competition and a finalist for the prestigious Deutsche Börse Photography Prize 2018. Co-founder of the Sputnik Photos collective. He has had numerous exhibitions in Poland and around the world. His works are featured in collections such as the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, the Center for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw, the Polish Art Foundation ING, and Brandts in Odense, Denmark. Since 2018, he has been a nominated member of the Magnum Photos agency.

Jerzy Łukaszewicz

Field of Teaching: Cinematography
Major Achievements:

As a cinematographer he created over 15 feature films. The most important titles are: “Dolina Issy” (dir. T. Konwicki), “Spotkanie na Atlantyku” (dir. J. Kawalerowicz), “Siekierezada” (dir. W. Leszczyński), “Vabank I”, “Vabank II,” “Seksmisja”,” Kingsajz “(dir. J. Machulski). His directorial debut was “Przyjaciel wesołego diabła” (1984). In
subsequent years, as a screenwriter and director he realized 5 feature films and 5 television series (including “Tajemnica Sagali”, “Słoneczna włócznia” in co-production with ARD and MDR – Germany). He is an author of digital reconstruction of, among others, A. Wajda’s film “Panny z wilka”, “Człowiek z marmuru”, “Człowiek z żelaza”, ” Krajobraz po bitwie”, “Kronika wypadków miłosnych”.

Krzysztof Zanussi

Field of Teaching: Directing
Major Achievements:

He is the recipient of the Golden Lion at the 1984 Venice Film Festival for A Year of the Quiet Sun, the Jury Prize at the 1980 Cannes Film Festival for The Constant Factor as well as two Grands Prix at the 1977 and 2000 Gdynia Film Festival for Camouflage and Life as a Fatal Sexually Transmitted Disease respectively.
