COURSE: This workshop analyses a selection of Italian film directors between the 1940s and the 2010s, in order to provide a better understanding of film making techniques, narrative styles, Italian culture and history. The course is structured in ten classes of two hours each, twice a week.
During the class we will watch pieces of different films from each director and create a radical analysis of what links them to their time and society.
Discussing the poetics, methodology and inspirations that moved each director’s work, we will understand Italian culture and history and what are the insights to Italian filmmaking.
