MAD MAX : FURY ROAD and STUTTERER

The LFS applauds all the LFS alumni who worked on films in this year's 88th Academy Awards race, including Iain Smith for MAD MAX: FURY ROAD and Ben Cleary for STUTTERER for BEST SHORT FILM (LIVE ACTION).

The Film tells the story of a typographer with a speech impediment finds comfort and connection in an online relationship. Now, however, he is faced with the prospect of meeting his online paramour in the flesh, and revealing the truth about himself. The film stars Matthew Needham (Casualty), Chloe Pirrie (Shell), and Eric Richard (The Bill).

In addition to its Oscar success, STUTTERER has been selected to screen at 18 festivals so far, and has won the Audience Award at DC Shorts Film Festival and Best Foreign Film at the LA Shorts Fest.

Stutterer is produced by Serena Armitage and Shan Christopher for Bare Golly Films. 

The film, produced by LFS alumnus and BFC Chairman Iain Smith, triumphed with its strong sensory style, picking up the most awards of any nominated film that night.

The six awards have added to a growing list of international awards and nominations for MAD MAX:FURY ROAD, including winning “Best Film/Best Picture” at AACTA AwardsFlorida Film Critics CircleInternational Federation of Film CriticsNational Board of ReviewAustin Film Critics AssociationChicago Film Critics AssociationOnline Film Critics SocietySan Diego Film Critics Society, and San Francisco Film Critics Circle.

MAD MAX: FURY ROAD has also proved a hit with online critics and journalists, being named one of the best films of 2015 by numerous critics and publications and was ranked first on Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes’ best scored film of 2015.
