Sabina and Joey are both lower middle class kids, abandoned by their parents, working as caterers at a run down country club. Sabina sells drugs in hopes of earning money for college. Joey hopes to get a raise, and thereby, Sabina’s love. When his efforts repeatedly end in failure, Joey comes to rely more and more on the cocaine that Sabina sells to bolster his flagging self-esteem – which ultimately costs Sabina the one true, secure thing in her life.
