Elong E'nabe is the story of six-year-old Angela, a black girl with Senegalese roots, born in Belgium. Ten years ago, her mother Roos and father Rafael came to Belgium in search of a safer environment for their children to grow up in as the situation in their home country became unbearable. We get to see how Angela, her brother Dirk, and sister Tina grow up in a complex socio-political situation. The part of Belgium where they live is known for its right-wing nationalist supporters, and the growing migration of African families to the region creates a lot of tension. Unaware of the conflict they have found themselves in, the children lead a carefree life while their mother watches over them. The film paints a picture of what it is like to grow up in Flanders as a child with a black skin color.
