The year is 1977. Sharif is a Somali citizen living in the Soviet Union with his Russian wife Anna and their daugther Farhiya. When an international war breaks out, all Somalis in the Soviet Union are forcibly deported. This leads Sharif on a long and dangerous journey where he must do everything in his power to keep the family together. The film is based on a true story.
