Major Achievements: Film direction graduate from the Lodz Film School. Outstanding Polish documentary film-maker, creator of the ‘Polish School of Documentary’. Documentary film theoretician. His most well-known documentaries are: ‘The Musicians’ and ‘Franek W’s Year’. In fiction film he is known as a so-called ‘black series’ film-maker. For his documentaries he has won the most prestigious prizes - Golden Lion at the International Film Festival in Venice, Oberhausen International Film Festival prize and the Golden Dragon at the International Short Film Festival in Cracow.
