Major Achievements: Famous film director. Studied direction of photography and film direction at the Polish National Film School in Lodz, where he received MA diploma in film direction. Director of the films ‘Eroica’ and ‘Bad Luck’. Died tragically in 1961 leaving the film, ‘Passenger’ unfinished. The rushes left behind by Munk were put together by his colleague Witold Lesiewicz. The film got Special Honorary Jury Mention and FIPRESCI award at the International Film Festival in Cannes. Since 1965 the Lodz Film School has been awarding the Munk Prize to young film-makers for their debut as a film director, or director of photography.
