Major Achievements: David has worked in television and film for almost 40 years. He began life after university by joining the BBC, where he wrote, produced and directed arts programmes, both on location and in the multi-camera TV studio – including a series of Shakespeare productions with The National Theatre, and films on Thomas Hardy, Dickens, Zola, DH Lawrence, Thomas Harrison, Joseph Conrad. He then commissioned programmes for Channel 4 television, including weekly hour-long live magazine Open at One, before setting up a successful independent TV and multi-media production company making, amongst many other things, a 135-programme series for the BBC.
