CILECT Teaching Award – Rules
As a means to recognize and reward excellence in cinema, audiovisual and/or media pedagogy within the organization, since 2014 the CILECT Executive Council selects up to three (3) Teaching Award recipients each year from qualified nominations:
Nominator Eligibility: Only FULL MEMBER schools in good standing may nominate Teaching Award candidates. One school can only nominate ONE candidate.
Re-nomination: Candidates may be nominated up to a total of three (3) separate years OR until they are selected as a Teaching Award recipient. No Teaching Award recipient may be re-nominated.
Nomination Deadline: The nominating school must submit all required materials online to executive.director@cilect.org no later than 31 March 2024.
Nomination Portfolio: All the following materials must be included in the submitted portfolio:
- Checklist of all items provided
- An official nomination statement from the school written in English and signed by the Head of School or equivalent
- A Teaching Philosophy statement written in English (max 500 words) that summarizes the most impactful and/or innovative aspects of the nominee’s pedagogical approach
- A summary written in English of the nominee’s teaching positions related to film, TV and/or media pedagogy with brief descriptions of the major courses taught (max 50 words each)
- A summary written in English of the nominee’s most influential publications and/or technological aids related to film, TV and/or media pedagogy. (The list should be supported by copies of the original cover page and table of contents page, and/or website references, and/or published reviews.)
- A list written in English of the nominee’s presentations at national and/or international events (workshops, seminars, conferences, etc.) in the field of film, TV and/or media pedagogy
- A list written in English of the nominee’s professional and educational recognitions (awards, grants, etc.)
- A list written in English of the nominee’s policy making and/or organizational services in the area of film, TV and/or media pedagogy at national and/or international level
- An audiovisual file up to 15 minutes in length and subtitled in English that shows an UNEDITED excerpt of the nominee’s teaching or a relevant presentation of their educational work in front of an audience.
