The Department of Film and Television Production at Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and Television is searching for two qualified Producers to join the department and provide leadership in the areas of creative and line producing. Both appointments are full-time, tenure-track positions with competitive salary and benefits, to begin August 15, 2025.
MFA or terminal degree in film production or a closely related field required. Interested applicants should have at least 1-2 years university level teaching experience, along with evidence of successful student mentoring.
Candidates are expected to have substantial practical experience (Hollywood, Independent, or International). They should have significant experience of producing projects in the Cinematic Arts (e.g. films, television, games, and emerging media formats).
The selected candidates will help our students understand the logistics of film set management, and/or the process of developing creative ideas into a finished project.
Creative Producing candidates should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the following: script/project development for various storytelling modes, pitching and pitch decks, budgeting/scheduling, entertainment law, and current knowledge of distribution markets and emerging media opportunities. Entrepreneurial skills should include finance and business development, marketing, crowd funding, and audience development.
Line Producing candidates should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the following: logistics of film set management and coordination, assistant directing, post producing, pre-production management, scheduling, budgeting, budget management for production and post, bidding, and negotiation.
Selected candidates will teach from among established courses on the graduate and undergraduate level. They will act as advisors to, and may serve as coordinator for, the MFA Creative Producing Concentration in our graduate program.
Candidates will be expected to teach the required full time teaching load of three (3) courses per semester, continue creative work/scholarship, and provide service to the University.

Clinical Assistant Professor of Film Production – Editing

The Department of Film Production at LMU seeks such a teacher-scholar for a Clinical Assistant Professor Editing position to begin on August 15, 2025. Applicants must have a minimum of three to five years of professional experience as primary editor of narrative and/or non-fiction films and television, either short or long form. This is a non-tenure-position. This is a full-time faculty role with competitive salary and benefits. The position is anticipated to start in August 2025.
Candidates must have 1+ years of university-level teaching experience within the editing discipline. Candidates who hold an Avid Instructor Certification are preferred. We also encourage applicants whose work addresses issues of cultural diversity and/or have an orientation towards collaborative, inclusive filmmaking.
Successful candidates will be dedicated to 1) teaching a diverse student body in a transformative learning environment across a range of undergraduate and graduate courses, including introductory and advanced courses on the creative and technical aspects of storytelling through editing, high-end post-production workflows, integration of visual effects/compositing, as well as the process of finishing films for multiple distribution modes, 2) challenging themselves, their students, and their colleagues to be actively anti-racist and work toward greater diversity, equity, and inclusion in the profession, and 3) participating in service activities at the academic, professional, and/or community levels.
Advanced skills in Avid Media Composer, Adobe Suite, and DaVinci Resolve are required. Skills in visual effects, generative AI editing tools, additional editing softwares, and emerging media forms are considered a plus. To help fulfill the mission and objectives of the Production Department, the ideal candidate will be expected to help transition students into the entertainment industry and maintain a level of professional standing.
The selected candidate will teach from among the following established courses at the graduate and undergraduate level: introductory post-production, intermediate and advanced editing courses, and MFA Editing Portfolio classes. The candidate will be expected to teach the required full-time teaching load of three (3) courses per semester and provide service to the Department.

Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and Television invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor in directing film/television in the Department of Film and Television Production. This is a non-tenure position. This is a full-time faculty role with competitive salary and benefits. The position is anticipated to start in August 2025.
The Department of Film and Television Production in the School of Film and Television at Loyola Marymount University seeks an accomplished director in fiction filmmaking with experience in short formats (short films, music videos, experimental, non-fiction, new media formats, etc.) to join our faculty. Candidates with feature film or episodic television experience is required. A proven track record of excellence in teaching and student mentorship is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong story sense in their creative work and have significant experience directing and writing in a variety of lengths and formats.
The successful candidate will teach graduate and undergraduate production courses as well as advanced seminars in directing and/or screenwriting and directing, including how to work with actors. They will teach the required full-time teaching load of three courses per semester. The candidate will be required to advise and mentor students in their course and career choices in the field, and to provide service to the department.

Substantial professional recognition in directing shorts and feature length film or television. MFA preferred, but not required.

Evidence of professional practice in directing fiction films (film, television or streaming) through commercial distribution or extensive festival play.
PRIOR TEACHING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (Minimum of 2 YEARS)
A minimum of two years of proven excellence in teaching film production at the university or professional level is required, along with evidence of successful student mentoring.
