Mission & Strategy
The ECAM is a cinema and audio-visual school whose major assets are its past and present students, its teachers and its equipment. Each year more than 150 professionals working in cinema, television and publicity attend our classrooms, sets and post-production rooms in order to transmit their knowledge to the new generations of professionals in the sector.
The Madrid Film School is constituted as a non-profit making foundation, which enables us to reinvest what is contributed by the sponsors of the Foundation and what is generated by the activity of the school itself in the school and in the students.
Diplomas, Masters and Intensive Courses are those studies which make up the educational portfolio of the school, adapted to the needs of the job market and the audio-visual industry. We like to think that the school constitutes the commencement of a professional life and not the last stages of academic life.
Our teaching staff and the institutional relations established with the sector have enabled us to build bridges with the industry which facilitate the incorporation of our students to the job market.
The Diploma Studies lasting three years start with a common first course, focussed on the students knowing the professions involved in the cinema. The following two courses are dedicated to specialization. The first is of a self-conclusive nature, it is complete and thorough, and could be considered to be the best Master of Cinema Professions in Europe. All our educational programmes are created from a practical focus as we believe that the cinema profession is learned by making cinema.
The highest values of the ECAM are found in its combined practical training. The first year students pass through all the heads of department in first year practical training. They also collaborate in the combined practical training of the second and third years. With this, we achieve the transfer of horizontal knowledge, learning from companions. This also fosters the development of personal relationships which will be necessary in the future professional work.
With the same practical and professional objective, in the practical training of the second and third years, the production scheme of the audio-visual industry is reproduced. The productions in the school are carried out with illusion, discipline and professionalism.
In order to contribute to the dissemination of the end of studies practical training of the students and improve job visibility, the school has its own distributor. The distribution Office supports the projects of the students and those of the former students as regards distribution to festivals. EI 2014, the office managed 1,336 selections and 150 awards at cinema festivals all over the world.
