A white boy who dreams of cognitive enhancement moves to Tokyo at the age of eighteen to pursue the technological singularity. Instead, he ends up becoming a fashion model and acting in a Japanese soap opera. The cultural and linguistic complexities of this work change his brain chemistry. Now, ten years later, and spurred on by an audible "cute Japanese" female voice in his head, he decides to return to Japan to seek closure on his traumatic past and revisit the issues that led to his demise.
