Jyoti Mistry is professor in film at Valand Academy, University of Gothenburg, Sweden. She is the author of a number of films screened at prestigious festivals such as Berlinale, Toronto, Rotterdam, Stockholm, Durban and others. Her installation work draws from cinematic traditions but is often re-contextualized for galleries and museums that are outside of the linear cinematic experience. Mistry has published widely on the topics of multiculturalism, identity politics, film practice and pedagogy, race and memory. She has taught at universities in South Africa, USA, Austria, Finland, Ethiopia, Ghana and the Netherlands. She is the first CARA recipient of the CILECT Teaching Award (2016).
